Slumdog Millionaire

Oh man, so this movie was absolutely amazing. I saw it last night, made my dad drive me to the other side of town because that's the only place they're playing it. But really, if you haven't seen it yet you need to. It's one of the best films I've seen. Ever.
So, Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, a boy who grew up in the slums with his brother Salim. When they are still very young, their mother is killed during one of the Muslim-Hindu riots. Jamal and Salim meet Latika during the incident and become close friends, calling themselves the three musketeers. Jamal falls in love with Latika and when they are separated while trying to escape from a gangster who trains slum children to be singing beggars, he makes it his soul purpose to find her again. Eventually Salim begins working for another gangster in Mumbai and Jamal as a "chai-walla" at an Indian call centre in Mumbai. In order to find Latika, Jamal goes on the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, in hopes that she'll be watching. But when Jamal gets to the final question, the show and the Mumbai police suspect cheating. While being interrogated, Jamal explains the story behind his knowledge of the answer to each question. Jamal is allowed back on the show and he is finally reunited with Latika when he calls his brother's cell phone (which is in Latika's possesion) while using the Phone a Friend lifeline.

Tomorrow, tomorrow! I love ya! Tomorrow!

Finally! Second semester starts tomorrow! I'm so excited, I get to experience social interaction again!
So for the past couple of days I've been: avoiding my science fair project, watching That 70s Show religiously, bumming around with my sister and pets, and singing. A lot. It's been extremely boring, just because I got into this weird routine of waking up around 9, staring at my work, then eating and watching TV all day and feeling guilty about ignoring my homework. School is a beacon of hope for me.
Today I actually got to get out of the house, Carly and I went to belly dancing. Oh my gosh, I hadn't danced in weeks and I already know I'll be sore tomorrow. But it was definitely worth it, I love dancing, complete stress release.
Then we came home and I watched High School Musical for the fifty billionth time. She wanted to watch it to calm her nerves about school, since it starts with them returning from winter vacation. Ahh, I love that movie. It just makes you happy.
And, here I am now. I need to go to bed so I'm not a zombie the first day back. That would be bad. Well, toodles!

hullo.

It's finally the new year! I've made so much progress in every aspect of my life over the last year, and I'm very glad for that. I hope to start off clean when we get back to school. I've cleaned up my room completely so I now live in a much better environment, it allows me to breathe easier.
So, the past two days I spent the night at my grandmother's house because the furnace at my house was messed up. Thankfully it's all fixed now, I started to miss my bed, although it was nice to be able to play the Wii whenever I liked. And watch movies on a huge HD tv.
But, since my sister and I didn't really get to go anywhere while we were there, we decided last night when we were sitting at home, we wanted to go to a movie. So, we went to Cinemark to see Marley & Me. I won't give any of it away, but it was the saddest movie ever. I was very surprised. I think the entire theatre was crying, I had tears literally streaming down my face. It was very good, though Carly and I both loved it. Of course now we both had to read the book.

woot!

Today was fabulous! At first I felt really sick and crappy but now I'm doing much better. I got a haircut today, and I love it! I have bangs again!
After my haircut, I went with Arlette to the Hal Marcus art studio to see a performance by the Shimmy Sisters, it was great. After the show, we went around to see the different vendors and saw our belly dance instructor. I also bought a pair of earrings and a tape measurer bracelet, they're both so cute! All the people there were awesome too. A portrait painter there introduced himself to me and told me I had an amazing face, but I didn't get to exchange numbers because it was during the performance and people were passing by like crazy. Then Arlette and I got our pictures taken for the newspaper. And oh my god, I LOVE Laileinia's husband! He's in the band that does the Shimmy Sisters' music and not only is he adorable, he's also freakin' hilarious and awesome! When I was buying my earrings from him I asked how much they were and he's like, "How much do you wanna pay?" So I'm like, "Uhh... five dollars?!" "Sure! They're yours!" It was great and he was just talking to us telling us we all get a
discount because we belly dance. The whole lot of people there was just so cool, it was like artist heaven! I loved it.

my bracelet
my earrings!

Oh, and today I found the video of my father dancing with the Shimmy Sisters on youtube, it's hilarious, enjoy! My dad is the first guy they bring on stage, the one who looks like a dork haha. My belly dance instructor is also featured in the video as well as all of the girls who participated in the Arabian Nights show at UTEP. Yay, Karisha!

wow.

So, I haven't updated in almost a month! A lot has happened, too. This week is finals week, and I'm so happy I'm exempt from everything! That means I just have to come in for forty-five minutes every morning this week and then I can leave! I consider winter to break to have already started for me.
Today was such a good day! It just got better and better as the day progressed. First, in World Geography we had a "party" which basically consisted of us watching some dumb christmas theme movie whilst eating crappy food that people brought. But, I can't complain too much, since we didn't have to do anything all period. Then, in P.E. we did nothing. I got to listen to my ipod all period, which wasn't too exciting. So, I wrote Arlette a letter on an index card. Haha.
Finally, I got to Biology, where I watched Enchanted for the first time. Yes, I know, I'm way behind. But, none the less, I LOVED it. It was completely adorable and dorky. I love movies like that, my inner dork needs to shine through!
Then, Geometry. It was like, the moment of truth in that class because Mrs. Galvez got her class schedule for next semester. I was so happy when I saw that ALL of my friends are still going to be in the same class next year! The rest of the day I just spent talking with Alan and Arlette, which I always enjoy. Then I went over to Arlette's to hang out and eat dinner. I love her mom's food. Oh my god. But, it was cool, because I didn't think her mom really liked me, but then today Arlette was joking around saying something about me never being to their before and her mom was like "Oh, whatever! She's a part of this house!" It made me feel so good!
Well, that's about it. I'll update again this weekend, because somehow I think the most exciting thing I'll be doing this week is sleeping. Woooo!

au revoir

ahh, procastination

So! Right now I should be...
1. Writing a review for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
2. Reading Great Expectations and,
3. Doing an English worksheet.

Am I doing any of the above? Of course not! I'm gonna wait till the last possible second, like I always do!
Anywho, I haven't updated here in a while, save my little wish list. God, I can't wait for christmas. I've been brainwashing myself for the past week listening to Sunny 99.9, all they've been playing since the beginning of November is Christmas songs. I love it.
I really have nothing else to say. Oh well.
